Well I’m sure most of you either listen or watched the game yesterday as I did, and you thought here we go again. Same old Same old, nothing new to see just more polish on a already rotten apple. I though the samething too. Listening to the game on the radio, after the 3rd inning and it was over, my mind started to drift as teh radio only became background noise. But then suddenly, its a tie game! Hmm maybe this team has something special this year, maybe this is the year they break the streak. As the clock hits five I leave work and turn the game on it car, its the bottom of the 9th and Bixler’s on 3rd with 1 out. I have to stop and pick up something for home, and 30 minutes later back in the car, and the games going on still. First thought out of my head is, you guessed it. Same Old Pirates. I drive home, turn the game on, and in the 12, they walk, walk, walk 3 players and its lights out, you can feel it, you see that nothings changed, nothings going to. They just can’t give over that hump. It has to come down to, we don’t have that one or two A+ players on this team to come up for a key hit, or make that save at the end.
I will have a few pictures of opening day here to post soon from my good friend, Douglas Derda some people just get to have all the fun. You can check out his site at shouldidrinkthat.com.
Opening day for the 2008 Pittsburgh Pirates, what a more fitting way to start a new site. The pirates are of starting what could be year 16 of the streak, the losing kind. I’ve been wanting to do a site for awhile a now and site site dedicated to the Pirates and Penguins seem to be a good fit. I know their are a lot of those are there in Pittsburgh, but I hope to bring you something a little different. I’m going to recap every game, with either a short audio podcast, or video update possibly for the week wrap up in review. I’ve been playing with Ustream and I think that sometime this week I will try to have a 30 minute or so chat online with fans to see and get a feel of the fans are like.
